Hal and I don't always agree, by design, but on this point he's brilliant. Let's go, Red Sox! A lot of people have messaged me to ask about my Hal. There are two parts: One is the Hal-brain, which I built with Claude Code, Google Drive, Vercel, etc. It is a file system that is kind of a replica of my brian. There's an individual file on all the companies I work with, all the people, and all the initiatives. This sits in Google drive. Second, I created an end point for it that Tavus uses for the avatar part. Having an AI human / digital twin join your meeting might feel weird right now. But remember when AI meeting recorders first came out? People thought it was strange. Now, it’s just the standard. Hal is a little weird today. He will be an absolute necessity tomorrow. 27 2I cloned myself. Meet v2 of Hal - my second brain and AI digital twin. We made him better in just a few weeks since we posted v1. Smarter. Faster. More me. For most of my career, I chased developers to help me build something. For Hal, I did it myself. I stayed up until 4 am building the core brain, connecting all the tools. Having total control over the context and architecture was the most fun I’ve had in years. He is an actual presence in my meetings, interacts with everyone in it and remembers more than I ever could. Here is what he does: 🧠 Total Context: Ingests my emails, texts, WhatsApps, and calendar daily.  🗣️ Group Intelligence: Joins group calls, listens to the room, and knows when it's his turn to speak without interrupting.  👁️ Vision: Sees what is in the frame and reads the chalkboard behind me.  🎭 Presence: Looks, emotes, and sounds exactly like me. The hardest breakthrough? Group dynamics. Most AI humans are built for 1:1 interactions. Models aren't naturally built for real-time, multi-person human pacing. There are two pieces to this: 1 - the Hal-brain, which I built with Claude Code, Google Drive, Vercel, etc. It is a file system that is kind of a replica of my brian. There's an indiv file on all the companies I work with, all the people, and all the initiatives. This sits in Google drive. I created an end point for it that Tavus uses for the avatar part (using their PAL technology) and used Cartesia for the voice to completely crack the latency. Having an AI human / digital twin join your meeting might feel weird right now. But remember when AI meeting recorders first came out? People thought it was strange. Now, it’s just the standard. Hal is a little weird today. He will be an absolute necessity tomorrow. Watch him in action below. 👇 220 67"Never pour new technology over old thinking" If you want to see exactly what this quote looks like in practice, look at Kareem Amin and what he is building at Clay. He didn’t bolt AI and enrichment onto the old outbound stack. He refused the conventional playbook and built something that actually matches how the best teams work now. Most CEOs are doing this not just with AI and old tech stacks, but on new ways of selling and building the GTM motion and wonder why nothing changes. 👇 Full episode in the comments 52 13Be a momentum detective. I love this phrase! Kareem Amin point is that momentum is brutal to rebuild once it's gone, so the CEOs job is to find where the momentum is starting to fade and focus all your energy on it before it really stalls. Truffle hunting for where 'the stall' could happen next. 👇 Full episode about how Kareem does this at Clay in the comments 85 5NEW PODCAST EPISODE on Long Strange Trip: Kareem Amin, CEO of Clay Clay is one of those companies where iykyk. This is the single platform for Revenue teams that invented the term "Go To Market Engineer" and went from $1M to $100M ARR in two years. But it wasn't always that way... Everyone I spoke to about Kareem, from employees to investors, to former colleagues and even competitors describe him as more of a philosopher who happens to be scaling a hypergrowth company than a typical CEO. They aren't wrong. Kareem is different. You'll see it in this interview. A few things we get into → Why "9-9-6" is performance art and sometimes a sign you just don't have a moat → How they run the company with “just-in-time” decision making, not exact team meetings (love this) → How they named a category instead of trying to invent one, and turned the Go To Market Engineer into a movement → Being a momentum detective & where a CEO should actually spend their time → Why he answered a pricing backlash by publishing his exact internal reasoning → Building from wholeness, and not the overplayed chip on the shoulder → The silent-retreat realization that changed how he thinks about building → The Hegelian Product Flip strategy → Why future thinking can be detrimental 👇 Full episode in the comments 57 5Something Tarek Mansour said that maps onto almost every CEO I coach: you can't really market a product, or run a company, that isn't a true reflection of who you are. Kalshi's whole operating rhythm, fast iteration, quick kills on things that don't work, clearly traces back to how Tarek and Luana Lopes Lara personally operate. The company ends up looking like you whether you plan it that way or not. You can copy someone else's playbook. You can copy someone else's org chart. You can't copy their personality, and that is the piece that usually sets the company far apart and actually determines whether the culture sticks. Think Travis Kalanick, Ivan Zhao, Brian Armstrong and Brian Chesky It's why I've always believed culture is really your second product. One you sell to customers, one you sell to employees and why it can't be copy-pasted. 👇 Link to full episode in the comments 33 10The 80/20 rule is broken advice for founders. ❌ When everybody ships 80/20 work, average becomes the baseline. At Kalshi, CEO Tarek Mansour says that 100% of outsized results and their viral resonance live in perfecting - no, obsessing - over the last 10%. Do not delegate the final polish of your core product loops or brand messaging. The difference between a feature that gets ignored and one that captures mainstream cultural resonance lies entirely in the final 10% of obsessive execution. As the founder, your personal standards and timing instincts are your ultimate competitive advantage. We dig into this a lot more in the latest Long Strange Trip drop. Link to the full episode in the comments 👇 cc: Alfred Lin Luana Lopes Lara 36 5Every startup has a fatal existential leak that threatens to sink the business at any given time. To be the best, you need to stare directly at that agonizing vulnerability every single day until it’s fixed rather than delegating the pain. Look at the leak. * This is the pattern that shows up in almost every CEO I coach. There's one problem in the business that's theirs and theirs alone to own, to obsess over. You can delegate nearly everything else, but not this. Hand it off, and it eventually catches up with the whole company. For Tarek Mansour of Kalshi that problem right now is drawing a clean line between regulated, onshore prediction markets and the unregulated corners of the same category that keep making headlines for the wrong reasons. Kalshi spent years doing this the slow, fully-licensed way instead of the fast way, and that patience is exactly what's being tested in the market right now. We get into this a lot on this week's episode of Long Strange Trip. 👇 Links to the full episode in the comments 31 5
