A thought that will stay with me from Aspen Ideas Climate and my conversation with the Obama Foundation’s Valerie Jarrett earlier this week: "Go into any conversation with the expectation that you have something in common." That's where trust begins. Building local relationships and modeling personal civility create the conditions for people to find common ground, work through differences and make meaningful progress together. When communities face severe weather, those principles come to life. Neighbors help neighbors. Local leaders coordinate resources. People come together to recover and rebuild. Across America, I see trust and relationships strengthened when people work together to address shared challenges and find practical solutions. This gives me confidence in our future. 338 8Birthdays are a time to reflect on where we are and to celebrate the future. As America approaches its 250th birthday, I’ve been reflecting on a simple truth: The American story unfolds every day in the places, and with the people, we call home.   I love to celebrate July 4th with family at home. The sense of community is what makes the holiday so special.   For nearly 100 years, Allstate has helped protect what people across America have built: homes, cars, families and futures. Allstate is grateful to be part of the American story.   Watch a tribute linked in the comments. 363 11Discussing improving trust with David Brooks and John Dickerson at Aspen Ideas. There is huge desire to build stronger local relationships as seen from the demand for Allstate and The Aspen Institute's Trust in Practice Awards. Everyone can also improve trust by modeling civility and giving freedom to others to have different points of view. Increasing trust will help us live the American Dream and be who we were meant to be! Link to the full discussion is included in the comments. 275 9Trust is essential to a healthy economy and a resilient society. It helps people make decisions, take action and move forward with confidence. I appreciated the conversation this week with Andrew Ross Sorkin on CNBC about how we build trust, and why Allstate is committing $5.25 million to people and partnerships making a difference. Through the Trust in Practice Awards, we’re recognizing and funding organizations across the country that are strengthening communities and improving trust. My interview with Andrew is linked in the comments. You can learn about the Trust in Practice Awardees here: http://spr.ly/6042B8HuIy 269 8Trust is the foundation of society, and it starts in communities. Earlier this week, Allstate and The Aspen Institute's Alliance for Social Trust came together at the Trust in Practice Summit around a shared belief: trust makes us stronger together. Trust lowers anxiety. It nourishes hope. It helps us respect individual differences and think more clearly. When trust is given and received, people believe more deeply and try new things. That is why this work matters. We are proud to recognize and fund collaborations strengthening community resilience across America through the inaugural Trust in Practice Awards. Congratulations to the awardees for making this vision a reality and strengthening trust in our communities. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gxW56gEX 296 9

Profile roast

“Innovative strategic moves” ends in five helpings of trust mush, making this CEO profile an Aspen platitude landfill.
